Born in Far North Queensland, Lauren spent most of her childhood outdoors exploring the rainforest and Great Barrier Reef. When she was 11 Lauren and her parents moved to Cambodia in South East Asia where she completed her High Schooling, living as an expat in a diverse community of religions and cultures. In her opinion, it is these two experiences that stimulated the strong connection between her art practice and culture and people.
Lauren studied a Bachelor of Visual Communication in Melbourne, majoring in fine art design and photography. After graduating, Lauren began working in the fashion industry for designers like Yeojin Bae, Jessie Hill and Alice McCall. In 2010 Lauren moved to Sydney to work for Fashion events company Miro House for the Rosemount Fashion Weeks.
In 2011 Lauren became the PR & Relationships coordinator of Kaleidoscope Gallery. The Gallery, in Surry Hills became her studio along with Director Sam Fin and curator Kathryn Garland. In 2013 the gallery moved to the famous Dank St., Waterloo where it became a well known creative space for emerging artists. It is this job that reignited Lauren’s passion for art education and practice and she subsequently began studying Art Education.
Today Lauren balances several aspects of a creative career. She is an arts educator to students from preschool to HSC, offering a learning experience that teaches students about the practise of art making, as well as the importance of a practice which considers curatorship, art history and social/cultural connection.
Lauren’s personal art practice comes in many forms and media, all with one connection - people. As an artist/designer Lauren seeks opportunities and projects that allow her to connect with cultures and communities through her camera, or by offering freelance design expertise.
